2010-06-21: Brilliant Database Ultimate Now Discounted to $1,299
Binary Brilliant has announced a significant reduction in the price of its flagship Brilliant Database Ultimate version 9. Now costing $1,299, this edition of Brilliant Database allows developers and companies to distribute the program’s databases as standalone Windows applications for customers and employees. The visual programming environment is designed for the deployment of royalty-free applications with customized logos, copyrights and interfaces by both software developers and companies internally.
Brilliant Database-generated programs sport functionality that goes beyond just databases. Brilliant Database is a complete set of tools for creating full-featured programs in any area: from inventories to genealogy, from invoicing to healthcare, from Consumer Relationship Management systems to engineering applications with extensive math functions and formula support. Many of the program’s users develop software with it for areas for which there are no existing software solutions.
Database design does not require knowledge of a programming language; rather, users add elements visually by dragging and dropping. Developers do not need to worry about programming basic interface functionality, as this is provided by the program itself. If programming is nonetheless necessary, this is done through the visual script editor. Users take the necessary operators from those listed and drag and drop them into a script, avoiding the errors and typos typical for ordinary text scripts.
Thus developers can concentrate on easy-to-use forms, queries for searching and reports for sorting through data in a myriad of ways. These are then "wrapped up" as full-fledged Windows applications complete with installer, uninstaller, custom logo and more, all without leaving Brilliant Database.
Multimedia (pictures, videos and sounds) is supported in user-made applications as well. Added files (such as pictures) can be saved within the database as attachments. Pictures can be imported directly from a scanner or webcam.
Besides entering, searching and displaying data, the secure Brilliant database core also provides simultaneous multiuser network access to databases for collaboration. Networked application setup is easier than with competing products — all that is necessary for a network is several Windows PCs with a Brilliant Database-derived program installed.
Binary Brilliant management characterized the reduced price as a "lifeline to small developers", saying that "Brilliant Database lets developers concentrate on providing database functionality without coding. This means fully customized, professional runtime applications for businesses, without having to pay royalties to anybody. The low price of $1,299 means that individuals and small organizations can prototype and sell their ideas rapidly."
